Twitterで英語をつぶやいてみる｜書籍編

昨日のエントリーでTwitterが英語学習に役立つという話を書いたが、今回は投稿する際、参考になるであろう書籍、２冊を紹介したい。

まずは、ベストセラー『英語で日記を書いてみる』の著者、石原真弓さんが書いたこの本。

隙間時間に身近なことを英語で書き留めることで、表現を定着させ、実際の会話に活かし、逆に会話で学んだことは日記に取り入れて総合的に英語力をアップさせましょう、というのが本書の主旨。

以下は実際に自分がこの本にある「よく使う構文」を見ながらつぶやいてみたものだが、例文に当てはめるだけで、身近なことをがつぶやけるようになっているのがお伝えできるだろうか。

3. ( Today was ToHo Cinemas Day. So, I watched Gran Torino. ) I was pretty impressed.

5. I had a English lesson in the afternoon. ( We learned about adverbs. My teacher said a famous joke: “Are you working hard or hardly working?” )
6. I’m going to take a trip to Hokkaido during Golden Week holidays. ( I’ll be staying for 6 nights and 7 days. ) →19
7. ( I cooked a hamburger at cooking school. It was so delicious. ) I want to be better at cooking.

25. ( My LED Cinema Display is acting up. ) I wonder if I should get some advice at the Genius Bar.
26. ( I just watched “Amalfi”. It was bored what I was hoping for. ) I wonder why I always watch the Fuji Television’s movies.
27. It took about four hours to check some web-page design. ( I’m so tired! )
28. I get tired easily these days.
29. I’m into choosing my new camera these days. (My favorite camera is CX1 and GRD2. But I can’t decide which to choose.)
30. ( Study Group of Wireframe Communication will take place in Harajuku tomorrow. ) I’m working on the assignment now.
31. I’m in charge of this project now.
32. I was busy drawing up a page list for my client.
33. ( So,) I had no time to do yoga on Wii Fit.
34. I just went to the beauty salon for the first time in about two months.
35. ( Prime Minister Aso dissolved the lower house of the Diet. When lawmakers burst into applause,) I couldn’t help being mystified by the scene.
36. ( I have felt sick for a few days. ) Maybe I should pay better attention to what I eat.
37. I might as well redecorate my living room.
38. It’s time to change my cell phone. ( But I can’t find attractive one. )
39. ( At last, work has settled. ) OK, I will start development of Cashbook again!
40. It’s been four months since I started taking cooking lessons. ( Today I learned Chinese. I’ll try again at home. )
41. ( Lotteria’s “Zetumyou Hamburger” is not bad. ) I happened to get its coupon for free drink at TSUTAYA yesterday.

45. 14→ It was more complicated than I thought.

47. Why do I have to join my condo association board?
48. If I finish the rest of my work early, I’ll go out to a movie. ( Transformers Revenge is playing IMAX at the 109 Cinemas Kawasaki till today. )
49. ( I’m planning my next trip. ) If I made more money, I could stay at exclusive hotels.
50. 16→ If I’d got it, I would’ve enjoyed performance.

そしてもうひとつは、つい最近見つけたこちらの本。

「これ英語でなんて言うんだろう」と思うような日常的なフレーズがシチュエーション別に掲載されており、ツイートに最適ではないかと思う。
例えばこんな感じだ。

寝過ごしちゃった。 I’ve overslept.
まだ半分寝ている。 I felt only half awake.
満員電車に乗るのは大嫌い。 I hate to travel in a jam-packed train.
乗り過ごした！ I’ve missed my stop!
わくわくするね。 I’m so excited.
天にものぼる気持ち。 I’m in heaven.

ひと通り眺め「今度これを使ってみよう」と思う表現をあらかじめ集めておくのも有効な使い方ではないだろうか。
